The Truth of the Matter...

Gideon would have you believe that all I do is set around, drink wine & think about vaginal symbols. Not true!
Besides a full time job, I have hobbies & projects in the works...

Problem: Living in an apartment pretty much limits a persons options as to having pets & gardening.
Solution: Fish & aquascaping. Check out this video...

Aquascapes ...are the most beautiful & serene solution the apartment dweller has to a real garden.
Keep in mind the above video is world class & I am only a novice.
My very beginning Aquascape.

I could only get the above Dwarf Baby Tears growing on lava rock at a store that was about 2 hours away. The substrate needed to really plant them, I had to order on the internet (It is on its way!) . There are other plants I'd like to use in my aquascaping which I will only be able to get if I travel long distance or spend lots of money shipping them off the internet.
But I am undaunted! I am excited about our local sandstone which I am using in my aquascape, & I believe our soft water will also be an advantage. I think the potential for some awesome scapes are here. My inspiration was my recent trip to Gold & Silver Falls.

What goes along with my aquascapes is my fish. I have 3 Betta, I believe they are the closest thing to dogs in the fish world. My newest, a Crown Tail Betta.

I'm not done yet, though! I decided a fountain on my Fire Escape was in order.
So that is my focus outside of work & my community life, which is another post altogether.
Me taking pictures of my budding aquascape. Vaginal symbols Unite!

Sounds like a good program, anyway.

Keep us posted on the aquascape. The crown tail betta is magnificent. They must be the peacocks of the fish world.

I have hobbies & projects in the works...

Pay no heed to the colander.....his hobby and project is baiting people.

qf I have considered HO trains as a hobby. I love the idea of building an elaborate layout.

phil I thought your garden was your hobby.

infidel Bettas are showy fish and come in an almost infinite varitiy of colors and many different styles. The Betta pictured will be moved to his own 1 gallon tank like the other 2 when I finish my aquascape set up.
I'm particular that they have all have their own heated tank with a filter & live plants. Remember poor Officer Bryant? That was a terrible set up for any fish, poor thing. No wonder he died! "sigh" I'll always feel bad about that.

Hmmmm... that's funny! I don't remember ever saying that. But... if the shoe... well, you know!

;-)

What's with the last picture?

gideon That is my night gowned reflection superimposed(?)on the aquarium glass while I was taking a picture of the rock set up. I thought it was cool how my legs fit the rocks & the cleft...well you get it. I thought it was very vaginally symbolic, not in a dirty way, but a powerful feminist way. It looks as if I could stride down Mt. Olympus!

Well, I don't drink alcohol, so no wine. But, I do my fair share of sitting around thinking about vaginas ;-)

I used to have a 50 gallon aquarium, and my son had a bowl with a Beta sitting on the kitchen counter. It was the most awful ichthygenocide ever in my aquarium. It was dreadful the fish I somehow managed to kill.

Meanwhile, the beta lived for better than two years in that tiny bowl. Either they are much more sturdy than the exotic fish I tried, or he is a much better fish keeper than I am.

in big cities like New York, people do find time for their pets and here, there are even opportunities for dog sitting !!!

And what exactly is wrong with drinking all the time? :-)

Love the Beta, he's a beauty. Speaking of fish.... that kind of makes me think of vaginas.

I have to say that fish tanks look like a heck of a lot of work to me. I prefer to stick to making home made bread and fancy recipes.
