Follow up on the last post

Ron Wyatt talking about Jesus's blood sample.

My last post was about a wacky religious advertisement full of bizarre claims by the late Ron Wyatt (an 8 page, so called "Newsletter" ) that an advertising client had bought space for as an insert in the newspaper I work for.
I was hoping one of our subscribers would complain & write a letter to the editor about this blatant attempt to bamboozle the religious community.
Blogger Infidel, even proposed that a moderate Christian might be offended enough to do so.
So far, the offensive material has generated 2 real life responses....
1. An older man came into the office and bought a stack of that particular paper as he was so taken by the religious advertisement, he wanted to share it with his friends & family.
2. I initiated a conversation with the local 7th Day Adventist minister, & asked him what he thought of the claims that were being made,(the group that is passing this stuff off claims to be an off-shoot of the 7th Day Adventist Church). The minister told me that when he was involved in a church in Puerto Rico he had personal dealings with the late Ron Wyatt. In fact Mr. Wyatt had ripped his church off. The Church had even later taken Wyatt to court. This minister also agreed with me that Wyatt was a con man & a blatant liar, I asked him why no one in the Christian community was speaking up about this drivel. He said they didn't want to be singled out or persecuted. He then promised to submit an article for publication about how he felt about the insert & what he knew to be true about Ron Wyatt.

We'll see if he follows through with it. :)

I find it an interesting phenomena that Christians are so unwilling to speak up about blatant abuses that happen within their own religion.
We are NOT living in the Dark ages. Individuals in America are NOT are killed or tortured for speaking up about religious abuses.
What gives? Could it be that the majority of Christians mistake legitimate criticism from the outside for a non existent but perceived persecution? Or is it the fear of ostracism from their own kind that that holds them back?

Oh good god...

What does one even say to that?

Wow, perhaps.

Congrats rita. You and Mr. Wyatt have made me opinion-less for now.

Indeed!
Why do the Catholics NOT speak more vociferously against their pedophilic clergy?

I wonder if it's because they fear speaking out against one of their own will merely show how ridiculous it all is?

Could you explain what you are reacting to? Your reputation for snarky cynicism is clouding my judgment.
It appears you are somehow comparing me to Ron Wyatt. But that doesn't make any sense.

Mac
That is a good point. In my experience, silence is the best way to avoid confronting an issue. (As any of us who have ever been married any length of time know.) If you don't talk about it, it doesn't exist.

It wouldn't make sense, you're smart and sassy. Ron Wyatt was neither the former nor the male equivalent of the latter.

The comment's a little ambiguous, and I'm assuming the 'congrats' didn't help, I just meant in bringing the story and commenting on it.

Madam, your mind is far and above Mr. Wyatt's :-)

I just love how Ron chokes up at the end, don't you? I keep watching it over & over just to get to that part.
How could one not think it was a parody?
To answer my own question: Because we know how gullible some people are.

Believe it or not I am composing a letter to the editor that I can't send of course, because I work for the paper.

Some day soon I'm hoping to BE the editor, then I can write an editorial about anything I want.

rita,

Can you at least send it anonymously, so someone can read it even if they don't publish it?

Harry Our paper doesn't publish anonymous letters. I could send it under a pseudonym, but it wouldn't be ethical to do that.
I still plan on hitting up a few more pastors for comments but, I feel I have basically gotten the answer to my question from the religious community.
I translate their silence on the matter as complicity.

My very religious mother & defender of the faith, doesn't think it's a big deal, although she admits Ron Wyatt could very well be trying to pull the wool over her eyes. What I gather from my conversation with her is, because she believes in the Bible, & the Bible states that Noah's Ark, the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah, The Ark of the Covenant, Jesus's crucifixion, etc...are all real items or events, this makes Wyatt's claims possible, even if not likely.
For this reason, it is not a bald faced lie to her, she doesn't even see it as an insult to her intelligence.

In this situation the righteous indignation of an unbeliever means nothing, the lack of indignation of the religious community means everything.

You know,
A rattle snake won't kill another rattle snake...a shark won't attack another shark.

If your christian leadership calls this guy on his BS, their BS will be under scrutiny.

Man mac,

Too true. You're like a secular preacher sometimes.

Perhaps you could give the benediction at my new temple of fornication and debauchery?

Be healed!

I am not bothered by nonsense .... however .... what is truely amazing is how we let these people get away with what would be criminal offense's to most of us for practicing .... in the area's of penal code's applied to robbery by trickery and such. We have gave religion's the right to do anything they want in the name of freedom and get a free ride financially as they do so .... all done just to keep the masses programmed. This is basically another one of their various form's of thievery. No wonder they oppose and actually fear a satanically ruled society .... because they would be left to the wolves, and have to face the rule's of natural selection, and the rest would be systematically executed. These parasite's are weakling's ..... basically good for nothing except fertilizer.

Thank You Ms.Rita .......

I agree, it's a good point, Mac!
So far... no follow up from the 7th Day Adventist preacher.
To look at it from his POV, by should he worry about my opinion anyway?
I don't support his salary. I'm an atheist, so there's no hope of winning me over. If I was in his position, I'd probably ignore me too.

RC I don't feel quite so strongly that I want to execute anyone or turn them into fertilizer. I would just like to see people like Ron Wyatt exposed for the frauds they are. The people being frauded(?) or should we say fleeced? are part of the religious community. Who should be protecting them but their own leaders? Are they stepping up to the plate? It appears they are not.

sou Truly bizarre.
I esp. enjoyed the explanation of the diet Coca Cola & McDonalds cheeseburger regimen.
Ironically, this sort of thing would poo pooed by Ron Wyatt & his followers as being totally outlandish.
